CVE-2024-22902Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated root access via default SSH credentials

Published Feb 2, 2024 · Updated Jul 9, 2026

Use of default credentials in Vinchin Backup & Recovery 7.2 allows remote attackers to obtain root shell access through SSH. The Linux appliance enables password-based SSH login for root and assigns the account a publicly documented default password that installation does not require administrators to replace. Reachability requires network access to SSH, but no prior account or user interaction is needed, and successful login grants full operating-system control.
