Unauthorized database modification via hard-coded MySQL credentials
Published Feb 2, 2024 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Hard-coded credentials in Vinchin Backup & Recovery 7.2 and earlier allow remote attackers to access and alter its MySQL database. The deployed MySQL service accepts a static application account password without hostname restrictions, permitting the published credential pair to authenticate from remote hosts. Reachability of the MySQL port is required; database access permits modification of application user data, including creation of rogue administrative users.
