Authenticated command execution via unsanitized NTP host
Published Feb 2, 2024 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
OS command injection in Vinchin Backup & Recovery 7.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary server commands. SystemHandler.class.php's syncNtpTime function concatenates the user-controlled ntphost value directly after ntpdate and passes the resulting string to exec without validation. A valid web-console session is required, and successful injection runs with the web server process's privileges.
