Code execution via Node-enabled Markdown webview
Published Mar 1, 2024 · Updated Aug 29, 2024
Remote code execution in nteract 0.28.0 allows remote attackers to launch payloads when a user opens a crafted Markdown link. The link loads an attacker-controlled page in an Electron webview with nodeIntegration enabled, exposing require() and Electron shell APIs. A user must click the link or open a shared notebook that reaches the attacker-controlled page, which runs code with the desktop application's privileges.
