Unauthenticated file disclosure via faulty base-directory check
Published Feb 2, 2024 · Updated Jun 5, 2025
Path traversal in LiveConfig before 2.5.2 allows remote attackers to read sensitive server files through crafted /static/ requests. The /static/ handler incorrectly checks whether a requested path remains under its permitted base directory, allowing traversal outside that directory. No authentication is required, but reads use liveconfig account permissions; the default SQLite database can expose domain, user, and contact data.
