Authenticated OS command injection via timeserver parameter
Published Jan 23, 2024 · Updated May 30, 2025
Command injection in Hitron Systems DVR HVR-4781 1.03 through 4.02 allows remote authenticated users to execute OS commands. The /cgi-bin/system_ntp.cgi handler passes the timeserver POST parameter to a shell command without neutralizing command separators. Attackers must authenticate to the management interface; observed attacks use default credentials to install Mirai-based malware and enlist devices in a DDoS botnet.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
