Code execution via trusted avatar filename
Published Mar 21, 2024 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Code injection in osCommerce 4 allows local users to execute arbitrary code through the administrator profile-photo upload feature. The /admin/upload and /admin/adminaccount/saveaccount workflow trusts a client-modified avatar filename, accepting a GIF/PHP polyglot after its extension is changed to .php. Low-privileged authenticated access to the administrator profile editor is required; successful uploads run PHP commands in the web server context.
