Administrator file disclosure via media_folder path traversal
Published Feb 28, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Path traversal in webtrees 2.1.18 allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to read server files via media_folder. The media_folder URL parameter accepts traversal sequences that resolve paths outside the intended media/ directory without enforcing that boundary. An administrator session is required, and exposure is limited to sensitive files readable by the web-server process.
