Authenticated command execution via Group Name template evaluation
Published Apr 11, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Server-side template injection in Form Tools 3.1.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through the Group Name field. The Add Forms workflow passes the stored Group Name value to the Smarty engine as template source, so Smarty evaluates attacker-supplied directives instead of treating them as text. Access to the administrator-only form creation workflow is required, and successful exploitation runs commands with the web server process privileges.
