PDF generation interruption via SVG regex backtracking
Published May 28, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Regular expression denial of service in TCPDF 6.6.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to interrupt PDF generation with an untrusted SVG file. The SVG parser applies a backtracking-prone regular expression to a crafted circle clip attribute, reaching PHP's regex backtrack limit. An application must pass attacker-controlled SVG content to the library; triggering interrupts the PDF-rendering operation without reported data disclosure or modification.
