Stored script execution via unsanitized site name
Published Jan 29, 2024 · Updated Jun 20, 2025
Stored XSS in GreenCMS 2.3 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary scripts in administrators' browsers via the site-name field. The step3 installer stores a crafted site name without neutralizing script markup, and administrative pages later render that value as executable HTML. Low-privileged network access to the installer and a subsequent visit to an administrative page are required; the resulting script runs in that visitor's GreenCMS origin.
