Remote code execution via NTP server injection
Published Jan 26, 2024 · Updated May 29, 2025
Command injection in TRENDnet TEW-824DRU 1.04b01 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through the NTP server setting. The sub_420AE0() function incorporates the system.ntp.server parameter into a command without neutralizing command delimiters. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful injection runs attacker-supplied commands in the router firmware context.
