CVE-2024-22473Network attack vector

Signature spoofing via uninitialized TRNG after sleep

Published Feb 21, 2024 · Updated Sep 27, 2024

Insufficient entropy in Silicon Labs Gecko SDK 4.4.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to recreate ECDSA keys and spoof signatures. On Virtual Secure Vault devices returning from EM2 or EM3, the ECDSA signing driver consumes the TRNG before initializing it, producing predictable signing material. The affected path requires a VSE device to resume from deep sleep and perform ECDSA signing; the reported consequence is signature forgery, not confidentiality loss or service interruption.
