Unauthenticated account takeover via exposed reset tokens
Published Feb 13, 2024 · Updated May 9, 2025
Weak password recovery in Dell PowerProtect Data Manager 19.15 and earlier allows remote attackers to take over user accounts. The forgotten-password workflow exposes a reset token without authorization and accepts that token to replace the associated account password. No prior authentication is required, but user interaction is required; successful exploitation grants the compromised account's existing privileges.
