CVE-2024-22432

MySQL credential disclosure via plaintext temporary file

Published Jan 25, 2024 · Updated Aug 29, 2024

Plaintext password storage in Dell NMDA 19.9 and earlier allows local users to read MySQL credentials from a temporary backup file. During each NMDA MySQL database backup, proprietary backup code writes the configured database password in plaintext to a temporary configuration file. Low-privilege access to the NetWorker client while the backup is running exposes credentials that grant the compromised account's privileges in MySQL.
