CVE-2024-22421Network attack vector

Session token theft via unchecked URL joining

Published Jan 19, 2024 · Updated Jun 17, 2025

Relative path traversal in JupyterLab before 3.6.7 and 4.0.0 through 4.0.10 allows remote attackers to steal session tokens via a malicious link. Multiple client URL builders joined attacker-controlled identifiers or locales to service base paths without confirming that each result retained the expected prefix. A victim must click the crafted link while using an older jupyter-server; the resulting redirect exposes Authorization and XSRFToken values to a third party.
