Privilege escalation via overbroad default policies
Published Jan 16, 2024 · Updated Jun 17, 2025
Incorrect default permissions in DataHub before 0.12.1 allow remote authenticated users to alter users and privileged groups. The built-in all-users policies grant low-privileged accounts GraphQL access to removeUser, group-membership changes, and other users' profile edits. Default policies must remain unchanged; adding an account to an existing administrator group grants administrator privileges, while other operations delete users or rewrite profile data.
