CVE-2024-22391Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Memory corruption via unchecked palette-table copy

Published Apr 25, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Heap-based buffer overflow in GDCM 3.0.23 allows remote attackers to corrupt memory by supplying a malformed DICOM file. LookupTable::SetLUT copies file-controlled palette bytes into Internal->RGB without ensuring that the metadata-controlled loop bound fits the allocated buffer. Processing requires no authentication or user interaction, and the demonstrated consequence is an out-of-bounds write that corrupts process memory.
