CVE-2024-22373Network attack vector

Heap corruption via unchecked decoded image dimensions

Published Apr 25, 2024 · Updated Sep 10, 2026

Out-of-bounds write in GDCM 3.0.23 allows remote attackers to corrupt heap memory by supplying a crafted JPEG 2000 DICOM file. DecodeByStreamsCommon copies decoded pixels into a raw buffer without first verifying that the JPEG 2000 width and height match the DICOM dimensions used to size it. Exploitation requires the target to decode the supplied file; the overwrite can corrupt process memory and terminate the decoder.
