Credential disclosure via base64-obfuscated Kubernetes secrets
Published Feb 10, 2024 · Updated Jun 10, 2025
Plaintext credential storage in IBM Storage Defender Data Resiliency Service 2.0.0 allows local users to read stored credentials. The Connection Manager OVA base64-encodes Kubernetes secrets instead of encrypting them, leaving credential values recoverable from its Kubernetes configuration. Root access to the on-premises environment is required, and the resulting exposure is limited to credential confidentiality.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
