CVE-2024-22273

Hypervisor code execution via storage-controller out-of-bounds access

Published May 21, 2024 · Updated Mar 26, 2025

Out-of-bounds access in VMware ESXi, Workstation, and Fusion storage controllers allows guest OS users to crash the hypervisor. The controllers read from or write to memory outside an intended buffer, but VMware has not identified the controller implementation or malformed request that triggers the access. A guest VM must have a storage controller enabled; the flaw causes denial of service alone, while hypervisor code execution requires chaining with other issues.
