Host code execution via stale vbluetooth object
Published May 14, 2024 · Updated Mar 14, 2025
Use-after-free in VMware Workstation 17.x and Fusion 13.x allows local users with guest administrative privileges to execute host code. The VBluetoothHCI_PacketOut method operates on an object without first validating that the object still exists. Exploitation requires administrative code execution inside a virtual machine and runs attacker-controlled code as that VM's VMX process on the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=17.0 <17.5.2
- Affected versionversion=17.x <17.5.2
