Physical BIOS access via absent boot authentication
Published Apr 2, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Improper authentication in VMware SD-WAN Edge 4.5.x and 5.x allows physically proximate attackers to access BIOS configuration during activation. The appliance exposes BIOS setup without an administrator password and retains a default boot order that permits USB boot. Physical access during activation is required; altered boot settings or attacker-controlled USB media can change device operation or interrupt service.
