Elevated file writes via relative path traversal
Published Feb 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Path traversal in Dell Technologies Unity before 5.4 allows local users to write server files with elevated privileges. The svc_supportassist utility accepts relative path traversal in a filesystem path without restricting resolution to the intended directory. A low-privileged authenticated service account and local access are required; exploitation changes files but does not disclose data or interrupt service.
