CVE-2024-22164Network attack vector

Investigation denial of service via oversized attachments

Published Jan 9, 2024 · Updated Jun 3, 2025

Uncontrolled resource consumption in Splunk Enterprise Security before 7.1.2 allows remote authenticated users to disable an Investigation. The Investigation attachment endpoint accepts oversized requests without enforcing a request-size limit, rendering that Investigation inaccessible. Exploitation requires collaborator access to the targeted Investigation, and the documented consequence is limited to that Investigation's availability.
