CVE-2024-22121Public exploit

Service removal via unprivileged MSI Change option

Published Aug 9, 2024 · Updated Aug 9, 2024

Improper permission preservation in affected Zabbix Agent releases allows local users to remove the Windows service through MSI. The installed MSI can be reopened with msiexec.exe /i, and its Change option performs feature removal without preserving the administrator-only gate. A non-admin Windows account and an existing MSI-based installation are required; successful use disables the agent service and interrupts monitoring.
