Script execution via unsanitized search-result snippets
Published Jan 4, 2024 · Updated Jul 14, 2026
Cross-site scripting in GOV.UK Tech Docs Template 2.0.2 through 3.3.0 allows remote attackers to execute scripts via search results. The search index stores whole page contents, and search.js renders matching HTML snippets without neutralizing markup before insertion. Exploitation requires attacker-controlled content in an indexed documentation page and user interaction with a crafted search URL; execution occurs in the victim browser's site context.
