CVE-2024-22039Network attack vector

Root code execution via X.509 attribute overflow

Published Mar 12, 2024 · Updated Dec 16, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in Siemens fire protection systems allows remote attackers to execute code with root privileges via X.509 certificates. The shared network communication library copies certain certificate attributes without validating their lengths, overflowing a stack buffer. Exploitation requires access to the fire-system network; engineering tools and the mobile app additionally require an on-path position.
