Authenticated command execution via wget option injection
Published Oct 16, 2024 · Updated Oct 16, 2024
Command injection in obs-service-download_url allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through crafted OBS service configuration. The download_url script forwards attacker-controlled URL text to wget without preventing option parsing, allowing injected options to write configuration files that invoke commands later. An OBS account able to modify a package service file is required, and commands run as the low-privileged obsservicerun user.
