CVE-2024-22019Network attack vector

Service interruption via unbounded chunk extensions

Published Feb 20, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Resource exhaustion in Node.js HTTP servers through 21.6.1 allows remote attackers to interrupt service with chunked requests. The llhttp-backed HTTP parser accepted an unbounded number of chunk-extension bytes on one connection because it did not count or cap them. A reachable Node.js HTTP server is required; one crafted connection can exhaust CPU and network bandwidth while bypassing request timeouts and body-size limits.
