CVE-2024-21978

Guest memory disclosure or corruption via invalid input

Published Aug 5, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Improper input validation in AMD SEV-SNP firmware allows local users controlling the host hypervisor to read or overwrite guest memory. AMD has not disclosed the affected validation locus or the malformed input that reaches it. Exploitation requires control of the host hypervisor; successful access exposes or corrupts a guest VM's memory without interrupting service.
