CVE-2024-21975

Local code execution via crafted NPU pointer

Published Nov 12, 2024 · Updated Nov 13, 2024

Improper input validation in the NPU driver in AMD Ryzen AI Software before 1.2 allows local users to execute arbitrary code. The driver accepts a specially crafted pointer without adequate validation, but AMD has not disclosed the affected request path or validation error. Exploitation requires local low-privilege access and can execute code across the driver's security boundary, affecting confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
