CVE-2024-21957

Local privilege escalation via permissive installation ACLs

Published Nov 12, 2024 · Updated Nov 14, 2024

Incorrect default permissions in AMD Management Console before 10.0 allow local users to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code. During installation, the ACLs applied to the installation folder and its subfolders and files grant inappropriate access, enabling their contents to be modified for later execution. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and user interaction; successful abuse runs attacker-controlled code with elevated rights.
