CVE-2024-21949

System crash via unexpected-size NPU buffer

Published Nov 12, 2024 · Updated Nov 14, 2024

Improper input validation in the NPU driver in AMD Ryzen AI Software before 1.2 allows local users to crash the system. The driver processes a user-supplied buffer with an unexpected size without adequately validating that size. Low-privileged local access and a supported AMD NPU are required; the documented consequence is a system crash without confidentiality or integrity impact.
