CVE-2024-21939

Local privilege escalation via inherited installation permissions

Published Nov 12, 2024 · Updated Nov 13, 2024

Incorrect default permissions in AMD Cloud Manageability Service before 2.0.0.232 allow local users to execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges. The installer inherits its parent folder's permissions, leaving the installation folder, subfolders, and files with improperly configured ACLs. Low-privileged local access and user interaction are required; successful exploitation escalates privileges and enables arbitrary code execution.
