CVE-2024-21938

Local privilege escalation via inherited installation ACLs

Published Nov 12, 2024 · Updated Nov 13, 2024

Incorrect default permissions in AMD Management Plug-In for SCCM before 7.0.0.1318 allow local users to execute code with elevated privileges. The installer inherits the parent folder ACL instead of applying restrictive permissions to the installation directory and its contents. This exposes installed files to modification by lower-privileged users; AMD does not identify the execution trigger beyond requiring user interaction.
