Authenticated service reset via special-character Redfish commands
Published Sep 23, 2025 · Updated Sep 23, 2025
Improper input validation in the AMD Instinct MI300X SMC allows remote authenticated users to reset management services via Redfish commands. The SMC mishandles certain special characters in manipulated Redfish API commands, causing service processes such as OpenBMC to crash and reset. Low-privileged Redfish access is required, and the reported consequence is a temporary management-service interruption without data disclosure or modification.
