Cross-site scripting via unsanitized plugin URLs
Published Jan 3, 2024 · Updated Jul 14, 2026
Cross-site scripting in TinyMCE before 5.10.0 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript through crafted image or link URLs. The image and link plugins' URL-processing logic fails to sanitize a crafted URL when an editor updates the corresponding element. Execution occurs only in an editing user's browser, and the dangerous URL is removed from content extracted from the editor.
