CVE-2024-21879Network attack vector

Authenticated root command execution via wireless region setting

Published Aug 10, 2024 · Updated Mar 11, 2025

OS command injection in Enphase IQ Gateway 4.x through 8.2.4224 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. wireless_display.rb writes the regdomain POST parameter into /etc/wifi/wifi.conf without validation, and setregdomain sources that file as shell code. Access to the authenticated advanced wireless settings is required; embedded shell metacharacters execute immediately with full device control.
