CVE-2024-21871

Privilege escalation from privileged local access

Published Sep 16, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Improper input validation in Intel Xeon D-2799 Processor UEFI firmware allows local users with privileged access to escalate privileges. Intel identifies the affected locus only as UEFI firmware and has not disclosed which input is mishandled or which validation operation is missing. The attacker must already have privileged local access, and successful exploitation can compromise data and system operation beyond the original security authority.
