CVE-2024-21830

Privilege escalation via unsafe dispatcher directory switching

Published Feb 12, 2025 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Uncontrolled search path in Intel oneAPI Video Processing Library before 2023.4.0 allows local users to escalate privileges. The dispatcher calls SetCurrentDirectory unsafely during MFXEnumImplementations, enabling library resolution through an attacker-influenced search location. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access, user interaction, and control of a searched location; loaded code inherits the application's privileges.
