CVE-2024-21769

Local privilege escalation via uncontrolled installer search path

Published Aug 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 16, 2024

Uncontrolled search path in Intel Ethernet Adapter Complete Driver Pack before 28.3 allows local users to escalate privileges. The Windows installer resolves a component through an uncontrolled search path, allowing attacker-controlled code to run in the installer's context; Intel has not disclosed the component name. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access, high-complexity conditions, and active user interaction; successful code gains the installer's privileges.
