Privileged code execution via crafted CLI commands
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Feb 18, 2025
Stack overflow in Fortinet FortiWeb 7.2.0 through 7.2.7 and 7.4.0 through 7.4.1 allows local users to execute code via CLI. Fortinet has not disclosed which CLI command handler copies attacker-controlled data beyond a stack buffer. The user must already hold privileged CLI access and bypass FortiWeb stack protections; successful exploitation grants arbitrary code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=7.2.0 <=7.2.7
- Affected versionversion=7.4.0 <=7.4.1

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
