Account takeover via arbitrary user email update
Published Sep 17, 2024 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Privilege escalation in Favethemes Houzez Login Register 3.2.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to take over accounts. The houzez_agency_agent_update action passes an attacker-selected user ID and email address to wp_update_user without verifying account ownership. Subscriber access is sufficient; when public registration is enabled, attackers can self-register, replace another user's email, and reset that account's password.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=n/a <=3.2.5 changes=[{"at":"3.3.0","status":"unaffected"}]
