CVE-2024-21729Network attack vector

Cross-site scripting via insufficient accessiblemedia input validation

Published Jul 9, 2024 · Updated Mar 26, 2025

Cross-site scripting in Joomla! CMS 4.0.0 through 4.4.5 and 5.0.0 through 5.1.1 allows remote attackers to run script via accessiblemedia input. The accessiblemedia field accepts insufficiently validated input that is later rendered as active page content, but Joomla has not disclosed the exact code path or missing validation operation. Exploitation requires a user to render the crafted content; successful script runs in that user's browser context and can read or alter data available to the page.
