CVE-2024-21662Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Brute-force acceleration via failure-cache eviction

Published Mar 18, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Rate-limit bypass in Argo CD before 2.8.13, 2.9.0 through 2.9.8, and 2.10.0 through 2.10.3 allows remote attackers to accelerate brute-force attempts. The session manager stores per-username failures in a 1,000-entry map and deletes a random entry when unique usernames fill the cache, resetting a targeted account's counter. No authentication or user interaction is required, but the attack needs more than 1,000 distinct usernames and yields faster password guessing rather than direct account access.
