Privilege escalation via unchecked page rollback
Published Jan 8, 2024 · Updated Jun 17, 2025
Improper privilege handling in XWiki Platform allows remote authenticated users to regain page rights through a rollback action. RollbackAction previously invoked XWiki.rollback without marking the operation as user-triggered, so checkSavingDocument did not verify permission to save the restored revision. Exploitation requires rollback access and an earlier page revision containing rights no longer held, and it restores that revision's content and permissions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
