Resource exhaustion in the kernel of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved allows remote attackers to cause a persistent system outage. A high rate of specific valid packets fills the Routing Engine's nf_conntrack table, severing its connectivity with other chassis components. The attack requires network reachability and sustained packet volume; a carefully designed lo0 firewall filter can block or rate-limit the traffic.
