CVE-2024-21547Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary file read via backslash URL normalization

Published Dec 18, 2024 · Updated Dec 18, 2024

Path traversal in Spatie Browsershot before 5.0.2 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary server files through a crafted URL. The setUrl method blocks file:// and file:/ prefixes but passes backslash-prefixed file URLs, which Chrome normalizes into local file URLs. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled input to Browsershot::url; successful requests expose files readable by the application process.
