Unauthenticated server crash via uncaught path-filter exception
Published Oct 19, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2026
Denial of service in Chimurai http-proxy-middleware before 2.0.7 and 3.0.0 through 3.0.2 allows remote attackers to crash Node.js servers. The shouldProxy path-filtering path passes each request URL to micromatch without catching thrown exceptions, leaving the error unhandled. Exploitation requires an attacker-reachable server configured with a glob path filter; the reported consequence is process termination and service interruption.
